This is a launch of a book that Nicholas Bemmulla and I co-edited on our school, originally English Junior School which later became Pamunugama Maha Vidyalaya. What we have attempted is to created a definitive record of nearly 13 months of research and investigation of mostly an ‘oral tradition’ which otherwise might have been lost forever. We have been now able to record it in print and make it available to the public. Deeply grateful for Godage Publishers and many others who supported us. The story includes what the pioneering lay people went through despite the stern opposition of the rich in the area and unfortunately by the Catholic clergy of the time and their supporters.
